Physician Assistant - Bent County Correctional Facility in Las Animas, CO
QUALIFICATIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Physician Assistant, under the supervision of the Physician, provides advanced nursing services and patient care in the facility's medical program.
Provides comprehensive care to include, but not limited to, executing physician's orders, dispensing and administering medications and performing examinations and treatment of patients; performs a variety of procedures and treatments.
Orders, interprets and evaluates diagnostic tests to identify and assess patient's clinical problems and health care needs.
Records physical findings, formulates prognosis based on patient's condition and discusses case with physician and other health professionals to prepare comprehensive patient care plan.
Recommends drugs and other forms of treatment within the scope of licensure.
Must have active Colorado license, DEA and BLS certified. Correctional health care experience preferred.
Accepts on-call status
Salary: $125,000 - $138,000 / year

Bent County Correctional Facility is located in Las Animas, CO. Las Animas is approximately one hour east of Pueblo, CO.
The facility houses Colorado Department of Corrections male inmates. It has a 24-hour clinic that includes dental department, medical department and mental health department with provider day coverage.
