Peconic Bay Medical Center (PBMC), an award-winning community hospital within the Northwell Health System, has a new position for a full-time AP or AP/CP Board Certified Pathologist to keep pace with their growing footprint including the recent establishment of a cancer center. Fellowship training in a surgical pathology subspecialty is desirable, particularly in GYN pathology.  As a non-for-profit 182-bed community hospital, Peconic Bay Medical Center is the primary resource for advanced healthcare services for the 250,000+ residents of the Riverhead area, Eastern Central Suffolk County, and Long Island's North Fork. PBMC has been recently recognized as the #1 hospital in New York State (NYS) for social responsibility (Lown Institute Hospital Index) and continues to receive an “A” grade by Leapfrog for patient safety (one among only 12% of NYS hospitals).

Pathologists at PBMC enjoy a fully staffed laboratory including two physician assistants and new, expanded office space.  Additional diagnostic support is leveraged virtually by joining daily subspecialty pathology consensus conferences headed by colleagues at Northwell’s North Shore Hospital and Long Island Jewish Hospital.  Pathology signout can be customized to the individual’s diagnostic strengths.  Responsibilities do not include cytopathology or autopsy services.  Opportunities to oversee a clinical laboratory are available but not required.

Join a welcoming, close-knit community with excellent weather and schools.  We offer a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package. Physicians will be employed as members of Northwell Physician Partners, the seventh largest medical group in the country. You will have immediate access to a team of highly experienced real estate professionals in every community surrounding the Health System.
