The Gainesville, FL Veterans Affairs Medical Center (GVAMC) and the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine at the University of Florida (UF) are searching for a full-time BC/BE Cardiologist with an emphasis on heart failure. This faculty position is a dual appointment, primarily based at the VA.

The GVAMC is the primary hospital in one of the largest VA systems in the country. We have fourteen VA based cardiologists and offer the full spectrum of cardiovascular care including CT surgery, an interventional and structural program, EP, advanced imaging and HF cardiology. We currently rank among the top five in the VA system for interventional procedures, and EP procedures, and have approximately 1000 admissions per year with a HF diagnosis. This position is to expand the existing HF program in both the inpatient and outpatient setting. The program currently has one HF cardiologist and 6 dedicated advanced practice providers who work closely with dedicated pharmacists and social workers. As part of the inpatient consultative HF service, you will supervise and teach a team consisting of cardiology fellows, IM residents, and an advanced practice provider. Outpatient clinic duties include working with the APP’s managing a large chronic outpatient population, evaluating new HF consults and providing follow up for recently hospitalized patients. There is an existing telehealth program with 2 RN coordinators. Video visits are common for patients at a distance from our site that are followed in outlying primary care and specialty clinics. Other general duties such as general consult service assignments are shared equally among all VA cardiology faculty. Opportunities for participating in research, and interpreting nuclear studies, echocardiograms and performing diagnostic cath depending on interest and qualifications.

Candidates with subspecialty training/experience in Heart Failure are preferred, however board certification in Advanced Heart Failure and Heart Transplantation is not required.
