ETSU Quillen College of Medicine has secured a new in-patient gastroenterology service line and seeks applicants who are board-certified in Gastroenterology to serve as the Division Chief on this new service.
This position is solely for inpatient care. The ideal candidate should have at least 3 years of experience in a gastroenterology service and be dedicated to maintaining a patient-centered focus and setting a positive example in daily clinical interactions. The academic Division Chief should also be committed to maximizing the educational experience of fellows, residents, and students during their time in the inpatient gastroenterology service.
The position is contingent upon external funding.
United States residency is required.
In addition to the care and treatment of patients and the supervision of trainees, the Division Chief will:
- Manage call rotations and oversee service privileges.
- Lead Gastroenterology research and scholarly activities.
- Ensure comprehensive knowledge and skills development for trainees.
- Collaborate with the hospital’s research department and guide the development of treatment protocols.
- Coordinate performance improvement processes and engage physicians in improvement efforts.
- Collaborate with hospital administration and Gastroenterology program manager on budget matters.
- Connect with the ACS-COT committee on Gastroenterology and maintain memberships in relevant organizations.
- Participate in leadership roles in the hospital, community, and region.
- Stay updated as a Gastroenterology-related instructor for healthcare personnel.
- Have active involvement in outreach, injury prevention, and education.
