PRACTICE SPECIFICS:
Hospitalist (primarily day shift; with Flexibility)
Flexibility to split with outpatient Family Medicine or Internal Medicine if desired
Primarily day shift with 1:8 week rotation to night shift
Pay incentive for extra shift(s) and extended week rotations
Full-time equivalent = 24 weeks/year
Well-established Hospitalist program and “Top 100 Rural Hospital in America”
162-bed hospital and Level III Trauma Center
Schedule – 7 on 7 off, Tuesday-Monday cycle
Hospitalists will cover Med/Surg & ICU, including ventilator co-management with intensivist, RT, and remote support from Duluth
Total number of physicians in specialty currently: 8 and two NPs
Fully staffed with 10 hospitalists
Opportunity to teach and precept medical and PA students, and for future program leadership
Average inpatient practice volume per day: 12-15 encounters per hospitalist. Average daily census on the team: 40-60
Home to Marilyn Covey Heart & Vascular Center and St. Joseph’s Cancer Center
Certified Primary Stroke Center, co-management with stroke neurology, growing cardiovascular program, and top-performing sepsis care
Hospitalist team runs codes and rapid responses
No procedures required (general surgery performs central lines)
Excellent compensation package, paid malpractice insurance, relocation, and benefit package
REQUIREMENTS
BC/BE Internal Medicine or Hospitalist Residency, or Family Medicine with Hospitalist experience
Current ACLS Required
Option for FCCS course for added critical care education

Brainerd, MN – located at the center of Minnesota
Home to top bike trails, lakes, hunting, fishing, schools, and restaurants in rural MN
Brainerd has a Delta Airport hub with twice-daily flights to MSP
Brainerd Lakes Area population: 65,000; Regional service area: 115,000
