The Department of Surgery, The Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery has an exciting opportunity for a full-time, Clinician-Educator track position, available at the level of Assistant/Associate Professor. The incumbent will promote the mission of UHealth in achieving its role in providing medical education, research, and quality patient care.

Job Functions:

Didactic/clinical teaching and supervision of OMFS residents

Providing direct patient care, surgery, consultative services, outpatient services, and care of hospitalized patients, as part of the faculty practice - including on-call coverage

Participation in research, and other collaborative activities

Participate in Oral Surgery Service and residency training at the Miami Veteran’s Administration Hospital (VAMC)

Serve in key activities for the Department of Surgery as agreed upon with the Division Chief

Responsible for clinical care in all aspects of oral maxillofacial surgery as well as working collaboratively with the other physicians in the division

Will be involved in resident supervision both at the University of Miami/Jackson Health System and the Miami Veteran’s Administration Hospital.

Teaching students in both junior and senior elective programs as sponsored by this Division within the students’ surgical experience

Responsible for pursuing protocols to fund experiments under the incumbent's supervision

Documents all services in patient medical records

Comply with Departmental Policy & Procedures & Hospital Bylaws

Exercises final medical judgment in all issues of healthcare.

Participate in international, national, regional, and local activities within the health care industry, which impact the future role of the Divisional Surgical Areas funding environment

Qualifications:

Eligible candidates must have completed a CODA-accredited advanced education program in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

Board-certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (ABOMS) or be eligible for Board certification

MD and DDS or DMD and be licensed to practice dentistry and medicine in a state, territory or commonwealth of the United States

Experience in broad-scope oral and maxillofacial surgery is mandatory

Fellowship training in Head and Neck and Microvascular surgery is required

Candidates must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills; display initiative, a positive attitude, flexibility, demonstrate a commitment to the department's mission; and hold themselves to the highest standards of ethical and professional conduct.

Candidates must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents

This is a salaried position with a potential bonus and with a generous benefits and retirement program. Academic appointment and salary will be commensurate with experience.
